Last week brought good news when Bank of Baroda announced that all its credit cards would be offered with a Lifetime Free (LTF) pricing structure. Unfortunately, there has been a setback: several card benefits are being revised and some popular features will end from 15 September 2021.
Here are the key changes you should know about in the updated product features and benefits:
- BOB Select: The primary advantage of this card—an extra 1,000 monthly reward points—will be discontinued from 15 September 2021.
- BOB Easy: The 0.5% cashback provided as a statement credit will also be withdrawn.
There are other minor adjustments across different card variants; you can review the full list of revisions in the official document published by the bank.
These changes are particularly disappointing for holders of the BOB Select card, since removing the monthly 1,000-point bonus significantly reduces its value. After these revisions, the BOB Eterna card is likely to remain the most attractive option among Bank of Baroda’s current lineup. However, new applications are constrained at present because of the ongoing Mastercard restrictions.
If you are considering applying for a Bank of Baroda card under the Lifetime Free offer, the BOB Premier variant may now be the better choice compared with the Select or Easy cards, given the upcoming benefit reductions.
