Issued as a Visa Infinite product, Citibank’s Prestige credit card is positioned at the top of Citibank’s lineup in India and delivers substantially higher travel benefits compared with the Citibank PremierMiles card. With broad redemption options and unique travel perks, Prestige is aimed at cardholders who want to maximize air miles and take advantage of international hotel loyalty programs.

  • Joining/Annual membership fee: Rs 20,000

Welcome Bonus

The high joining fee is balanced by generous welcome benefits. New cardholders receive a package of vouchers and bonus miles that can offset the fee if redeemed wisely. The joining bonuses include:

  • 10,000 bonus air miles
  • Rs 10,000 worth of vouchers for Taj Group or ITC hotels

Combined, these benefits equal roughly Rs. 20,000 in value, assuming you redeem miles at or above a value of 1 rupee per mile. Optimal redemptions—such as long-haul international business or first-class award tickets or peak-period domestic award seats—are where you can extract the most value from those miles.

Reward Points

  • Conversion: 1 Reward Point = 4 Air Miles with most airline partners
  • Earn 1 Reward Point for every Rs.100 spent on domestic transactions (effective ~4% towards miles)
  • Earn 2 Reward Points for every Rs.100 spent on international transactions (effective ~8% towards miles)
  • Existing Citigold and Citigold Private clients can earn up to 30% bonus points on top of regular rewards

The membership-tier bonus is a standout feature. For example, if you spend Rs. 10 lakh on international transactions, the base earn would be 20,000 points. With a 30% bonus, that increases to 26,000 points, equivalent to 104,000 air miles—representing a substantial return. Fees and foreign-exchange markups reduce some value, but overall the earning potential is strong for those who leverage airline and hotel programs effectively.

Note that many banks and loyalty programs offer lower-value redemptions for domestic flights or economy-class international travel. Achieving the best point value typically requires planning and targeting premium redemptions.

Airport Lounge Access

  • Access provided via Visa Infinite benefits and Priority Pass
  • Complimentary lounge visits: Unlimited with Priority Pass for the primary card and up to four add-on cards

As with other super-premium cards, you can often use your Priority Pass membership at participating domestic lounges as well as international ones, making it convenient for frequent travelers.

Ongoing Benefits

  1. Two complimentary luxury airport meet-and-assist services annually at select international airports across the Asia Pacific region
  2. One complimentary night’s stay when booking a minimum of four consecutive nights
  3. Upgraded recognition and benefits within partner loyalty programs such as British Airways and the Taj Group
  4. Foreign exchange markup fee: 3.5% plus applicable service tax

Bottomline

The Citibank Prestige card offers very attractive rewards, but it is best suited to cardholders who actively manage points and miles across airline and hotel loyalty programs. Frequent international travelers who can redeem strategically will find the card especially valuable. For those users, the annual fee can be justified by the lounge access, welcome package, elevated loyalty statuses, and strong earn on international spends.
