The Earth Lounge at Kochi Airport’s domestic departures (Terminal 1) was replaced a few years ago by a larger, upgraded facility. Previously used by international travellers, the original international departures area moved to Terminal 3, which now has its own Earth Lounge for international passengers.
This article reviews the domestic Earth Lounge based on multiple visits in 2024 at different times of day.

Earth Lounge stands out among domestic airport lounges in India thanks to spacious, well-designed interiors, a wide and tasty food selection, and excellent tarmac views from the seating and dining areas.
Location
The lounge is on the 2nd floor, airside, in the domestic departures area. It is accessible only to domestic travellers. Expect a bit of a walk from security; clear signboards guide you to the entrance.

Check in
During an early-morning visit the lounge was quiet with low occupancy. I accessed the lounge as an Air India business class passenger. Access is also available through common lounge programs and many credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, Priority Pass and several American Express cards.

Interiors
The lounge offers a variety of seating: dining tables, comfortable chairs, premium sofas and relaxed lounge areas. The design reflects an international standard—spacious, tastefully furnished and well lit.
Even at higher occupancies the layout prevents crowding and noise from becoming intrusive. The lounge is comfortable for both short waits and longer pre-flight stays.

Food
The lounge serves a generous and varied food selection. On a previous visit I enjoyed a memorable fish curry with rice; on my morning visit the breakfast buffet featured fresh fruits, juices, idlis and dosas, all well prepared and flavorful.
The food presentation and variety are consistent with what you’d expect from an upper-tier lounge—comfortable hot options, salads and lighter choices for those who prefer them.

View from the Lounge
One of the lounge’s strengths is the tarmac view. Seating and dining areas face the apron, offering clear sightlines to parked aircraft and movement on the ramp—especially impressive during early-morning operations.

Business Class Section
The lounge includes a separate business-class section that feels airy and calm—ideal for travellers seeking a quieter space. Compared with many other domestic lounges, this business area provides ample seating and its own dining space rather than a small cordoned-off area.
On multiple visits the business section was lightly used, often holding only a few passengers. That makes it a reliable retreat from the busier main seating areas.

Bottomline
- Cardexpert Rating: 4.8/5
Earth Lounge at Kochi domestic departures is an excellent facility—spacious, well-appointed, and capable of handling peak passenger loads. Its combination of good food, comfortable seating, and impressive apron views makes it one of the better domestic lounges in India.
If you’re departing from Kochi (COK) on a domestic flight, this lounge is worth visiting, especially if you value a roomy environment and direct views of aircraft activity.
