I recently reviewed the American Express Platinum Travel Card and was impressed by its strong rewards—an effective 8% return in the form of Indigo/Taj vouchers. Since I have a couple of domestic trips planned and prefer Indigo for intra‑India travel, the card looked like a great fit for my needs.
American Express India Application Process:
The American Express application experience was exceptionally smooth and user friendly. I applied offline through an Amex representative, submitted the required documents, and received an email within a few hours confirming conditional approval.

The verification completed within a week and I received the physical card the following week—about 10 days total. That turnaround is notably faster than many other issuers in India; banks like HDFC, ICICI and SBI often take over 20 days from application to card delivery.
My Experience with Amex Customer Support:
American Express has top‑class customer support in India. Representatives understand queries quickly and resolve most issues over the phone. Their support line is available 24/7, with responsive and energetic executives, even at 2 AM.
Every customer care executive I spoke with demonstrated strong product knowledge and could handle uncommon questions with ease. Their friendly tone at the start of calls creates a welcoming experience, which I appreciated.
So far it feels really special to be with American Express (India).

Useful tips:
- You can request a change to your billing cycle with Amex as long as your account has no outstanding balance when you make the request.
- Amex allows up to three cards per customer at a time. For better approval chances, wait at least six months after getting your first card before applying for additional Amex cards.
- Regular spending helps you qualify for a higher credit limit more easily—Amex tends to reward active card usage.
