Disclaimer: This is not a real card — it’s a concept I designed. Some features already exist in other cards; I combined them into a cohesive product idea. Any bank is free to use these features/benefits/ideas without royalty.
After reviewing most noteworthy credit cards on the market, I still feel the industry isn’t moving as quickly as it should. With roughly 27% year-on-year growth, card issuers must adapt to new consumer trends to win the large millennial customer base over the next several years.
Indian customers are value-driven, and many are willing to pay a premium when they see clear benefits. This concept is built with that mindset.
Cardexpert Credit Card Concept (Premium)
The idea began after I reviewed a dining app recently. The concept stayed with me, so I designed the product overnight and decided to publish it. Key highlights:
- Type: Premium lifestyle credit card
- Joining fee: Rs.5,000 + GST (renewal fee waived on Rs.8L annual spend)
- Welcome/renewal vouchers: Rs.3,000 Dineout vouchers + Rs.3,000 shopping vouchers (Amazon/Pantaloons)

Design Concept
The card design places numbers on the back for a cleaner front. I adapted a design found online and refined the colors into a dark gradient similar to recent gemstone-style cards. A striking design matters — I’ve picked up cards purely for their look, so aesthetics are part of the appeal.
Reward Points
- Regular reward rate: 1.5% as reward points
Points should be redeemable for flights, hotels and vouchers. While 1.5% alone isn’t eye-popping, the overall value increases when combined with voucher-based rewards and category bonuses.
Lounge access
International lounge access:
- Provider: DragonPass-style program
- Benefit: 3 international lounge visits + 3 spa visits annually
- Tier unlock: Spend Rs.5L to increase to 5 lounge visits + 5 spa visits
Dining and wellness benefits at airports are growing in importance. Adding spa access alongside lounge visits enhances the travel experience for premium customers.
Domestic lounge access:
- Provider: Visa Signature or Mastercard World
- Benefit: 2 visits per quarter
Dining Benefits
- Rs.3,000 Dineout voucher for every Rs.1L spent, up to Rs.12,000 in vouchers (requires Rs.4L spend)
Making dining vouchers a primary benefit would be highly attractive. This approach directly rewards cardholders with dining credit rather than only points or cashback.
Travel Benefits
- Rs.1,000 Ola voucher (Ola Money) for every Rs.2L spent, up to Rs.3,000 in vouchers (requires Rs.6L spend)
Direct travel vouchers for local transit are practical and frequently used, and they complement broader travel rewards like lounge access and hotel vouchers.
Hotel Benefits
- Rs.10,000 Taj voucher for every Rs.5L spent, up to Rs.20,000 in vouchers (requires Rs.10L spend)
High-value hotel vouchers make premium travel feel special and encourage loyalty to partner properties. They also align with existing successful travel-card strategies.
Less Important Benefits
- BookMyShow: Buy-1-get-1 offer for entertainment bookings
- Forex markup: 1.5% markup fee on foreign transactions
- Birthday benefit: 3x points on birthday transactions (equivalent to ~4.5% value)
- Spend-based offers: Regular, targeted offers to encourage higher card usage
Value to Customer
At Rs.10L annual spend, the combined vouchers and points provide about Rs.50,000 in value (net reward rate ~5%). Even a Rs.4L annual spender would effectively receive around a 5% reward rate through concentrated voucher benefits. Adding lounge and wellness perks increases perceived value further.
Value to Bank
- Dineout vouchers: High-margin partner channel; banks can acquire vouchers at low cost in exchange for marketing exposure to customers.
- Taj vouchers: Hotels often accept voucher-based partnerships to drive occupancy and ancillary spend; this can be low-cost for banks while offering hotels additional tax-inclusive revenue.
- Cab vouchers: Lower margin for partners, so these are capped to control program costs.
Strategy: Run this premium product for two years even on slim margins to attract high-value customers. Once the customer base is established, cross-sell EMI plans, loans, insurance and other high-margin services to generate long-term profit.
So Why such a card?
A premium cardholder typically takes at least one or two domestic vacations a year. This card supports that lifestyle by funding flights, hotel stays, local travel and dining through vouchers and points. Example for a Mumbai-based cardholder spending Rs.10L annually:
- Redeem points for a round-trip flight for two
- Use Taj vouchers to stay at a premium beach resort
- Use complementary spa access at airport lounges before or after travel
- Use Ola vouchers for transfers between airport and hotel
That combination funds much of a vacation and provides ongoing perks during business travel. Dining vouchers cover several restaurant visits annually, reinforcing the card as a go-to payment method.

That’s my honest take. I’d love to see your ratings and suggestions in the comments.
Bottomline
An effective premium card touches key lifestyle areas — shopping, travel, dining, hospitality and wellness — so customers naturally use it as their primary card. This concept bundles well-chosen voucher benefits with useful travel perks to create clear, tangible value for premium cardholders.
That’s the concept. If you like this idea or have improvements, share them in the comments — reader feedback can influence future products, and widespread interest may encourage banks to launch similar offerings.
