  • Confirmed Update: HDFC 10X Rewards Program further extended (April 2019 update)

The HDFC 10X Reward Points program has been one of the most generous rewards schemes in the world. As the saying goes, “Good things don’t last forever” — the Smartbuy 10X program began to change starting 1st April 2019.

This article covers the Smartbuy 10X rewards update. Changes for the Diners 10X rewards may be announced separately in a day or two. For reference, see the January 2019 update if you want to compare past terms.

Bottomline

In short, the original 10X benefit was scaled back on Smartbuy. For Infinia and Diners Black cardholders, 5X reward points still represent a strong value proposition for April 2019. For other HDFC cards, the 5% cashback can be useful but note that it is credited to PayZapp rather than posted as a statement credit to the card.

This update applies to Smartbuy only; we await an official announcement on Diners 10X. That offer may remain but with a lower maximum cap. Follow official channels for live updates once changes are confirmed.

Reminder: you had until 31st March to make the most of the previous Smartbuy 10X terms before the April changes took effect.

While many will be disappointed by the change, HDFC did offer 10X for an extended period and the reduced benefits still deliver value for premium cardholders. What are your thoughts?
