Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok: Detailed Hotel Review & What to Expect

I had a short layover in Bangkok, Thailand before continuing to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and wanted a convenient place to stay in the city center. I found Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok and decided to try it. Here’s my review.

Booking

  • Revenue Rate: ~Rs.9,000 / Night (Executive Room with lounge access)
  • Paid by: CC Points

I intended to use Marriott Reward Points, but found a good redemption deal using credit card points that included lounge access, so I booked that option.

Check-in

I arrived late in the evening and check-in was smooth and efficient. The front desk requested a copy of my passport and departure card, which I found a bit unusual but they explained it was standard procedure.

The hotel also provides a complimentary Tuk-Tuk shuttle to and from the nearby BTS station from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, which is handy for city travel.

Welcome Amenity

The room did not include a complimentary welcome amenity by default, so I requested some fruit. This is what arrived.

The Room

The room felt compact, like a typical business hotel space, but it was well laid out with the expected amenities. The window offered pleasant city views, especially at night when the lights came on.

The bathroom was on the smaller side, but clean and functional. Below are a few photos to give a quick sense of the room.

Executive Lounge

The highlight of my stay was the Executive Lounge. Even though I arrived after happy hour had ended on my first evening, the lounge still offered fresh fruit and a variety of snacks that made a satisfying light dinner.

The lounge is also a social hub. During my stay I met several interesting guests — one was an executive leading a popular Indian snack brand’s operations in Thailand, and he praised the hotel as one of the best in the city. Another evening I spent time talking with a network engineer from BookMyShow and learned a lot about servers and networking.

The lounge is popular and can reach high occupancy during service times. It features extended happy hours and afternoon refreshments, so you can drop by several times a day for snacks and light meals.

Food at Restaurant

For breakfast I chose the restaurant to sample a wider selection of dishes. The buffet covers a broad range of cuisines — spicy Indian options, savory Chinese dishes, and familiar American breakfast items.

There is also a live cooking station offering Indian specialties like masala omelets and dosa for those who prefer made-to-order items.

Bottomline

If you need a comfortable, centrally located business hotel in Bangkok, Courtyard by Marriott is a strong choice. It combines a convenient location, friendly and interesting fellow guests, and solid food options in both the lounge and restaurant.
