American Express frequently rewards cardholders through its own programs and bank partnerships. Following last year’s Marriott dining voucher promotion, Amex has teamed up with IndusInd Bank to offer co-branded cardmembers a Taj Hotels e-gift card. Below are the details of the promotion:
IndusInd – Amex Taj E-Gift Card Offer
- Offer: Spend and receive a complimentary Taj Experiences E-Gift Card worth up to Rs. 5,000.
- Spend Criteria: Spend Rs. 50,000 to receive a Rs. 2,000 Taj voucher, or spend Rs. 100,000 to receive a Rs. 5,000 voucher. At least 50% of qualifying spends must be offline.
- Offer Reward Rate: Approximately 5% value in Taj vouchers plus regular JPMiles/points on the card.
- Eligible Cards: All IndusInd American Express co-branded cards, including Jet-branded Amex cards.
- Offer Period: 1st – 31st October 2019.
- Fulfilment: Vouchers to be issued by 31st December 2019.
The Taj E-Gift Card can be used for multiple transactions across Taj Hotels, SeleQtions, Vivanta properties, and Ama Stays and Trails in India. It applies to accommodation, dining, spa and other services, and covers applicable taxes.
Bottomline
This is a solid offer for cardholders who can meet the offline spending requirement. At an effective reward rate of around 5% in the form of Taj vouchers, plus the usual card reward points, it represents meaningful value—especially for those who frequent Taj properties. The promotion is particularly attractive for holders of premium IndusInd Amex co-brand cards such as the IndusInd Iconia Amex.
While last year’s Marriott dining voucher was useful, Taj e-gift cards are appealing for the memorable experiences they enable. Continued collaboration between Amex and partner banks to deliver similar periodic offers would be welcome.
It will be interesting to see whether ICICI Bank or other partners match or improve upon this structure in future promotions.
