RBL Bank has introduced the Icon Credit Card, positioned by the bank as a premium offering above the RBL Bank Platinum Maxima and RBL Bank Platinum Delight cards. The card carries a substantial joining fee and a welcome bonus that is modest relative to that fee. Redemption options are limited, so the overall value depends on individual spending patterns.
Joining Fee: Rs.5,000 + Tax
Welcome Bonus: 20,000 Points
RBL Bank Icon Credit Card Reward Points
Regular reward points:
- 2 Reward Points per Rs.100 spent — roughly 0.5% value
- 20 Reward Points per Rs.100 spent on international transactions and weekend dining — roughly 5% value
- Maximum cap: 2,000 Reward Points per month each for international spends and weekend dining spends
- 1 Reward Point ≈ Rs.0.23
Milestone reward points:
- 10,000 Reward Points on cumulative spends of Rs.3,00,000 in a year
- Additional 15,000 Reward Points on total spends of Rs.5,00,000 in a year
- Additional 20,000 Reward Points on total spends of Rs.8,00,000 in a year
To illustrate the earning potential, here is the outcome for Rs.8,00,000 annual spend:
Total points on Rs.8,00,000 spend = 45,000 milestone points + 16,000 regular points = 61,000 points, which equals approximately Rs.14,000 in value — about 1.8% effective value back.
This card can be worthwhile if you can spend around Rs.8,00,000 in a year or maintain consistent international spending (for example, roughly Rs.10,000 per month). It is notable that the Icon’s effective reward rate is similar to the bank’s semi-premium Platinum Maxima card, which has a lower joining fee.
Other benefits
BookMyShow offer: 1+1 movie ticket (up to Rs.200) twice a month on BookMyShow.
Hotel benefits: Complimentary room upgrades, complimentary meals and selective offers with partner hotels such as Oberoi, Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental.

Compared with banks that waive joining or renewal fees for premium cards, the Icon card’s fee structure feels dated. If you receive the card without a joining fee, it becomes more attractive. Otherwise, there are competing premium cards from other issuers that often provide stronger benefits and fee waivers.
