Renaissance Lucknow by Marriott: In-Depth Hotel Review & Guide

Renaissance Hotel Lucknow, a standalone five-star Marriott property opened in 2015, stands in a modern tower beside the Taj Mahal Hotel in Gomtinagar, close to the Gomti River. Its central location and contemporary design make it a popular choice for both leisure and business travelers visiting the City of Nawabs.

Booking

Marriott’s dynamic pricing means rates fluctuate with occupancy. Base rooms commonly start around ₹8,000 plus taxes on many dates, and revenue bookings typically include breakfast for two adults. I booked a base room through the Marriott Bonvoy app for a birthday stay, redeeming 13,500 Bonvoy points for two adults and two children, which worked out to good value per point. Two days before arrival I used the in-app chat to mention the special occasion.

Note that award redemptions at this property don’t automatically include breakfast unless you hold Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status or higher. In my experience, a polite request at check-in sometimes secures complimentary breakfast, and if booking a paid rate consider choosing a package that includes cocktail hours for evening value.

Check-in

We checked in around 5:30 PM and received a warm welcome, including a juice-based welcome drink—likely in recognition of the occasion. With our details already on file, the process was quick and efficient, taking roughly two to three minutes. The reception informed us that complimentary breakfast had been added to our package and our room was upgraded one level to a 10th-floor city-view room without request.

The hotel has 16 floors and 112 rooms, with a rooftop infinity pool and a separate kids’ section that offers sweeping views of the Gomti River and the city skyline. Public areas are contemporary and well-maintained, creating a comfortable atmosphere for guests.

The Room

We stayed in a twin-bed room that comfortably accommodated two adults and two children. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with modern furnishings and city views from the higher floors. The hotel’s layout and amenities suit families and business travelers alike.

The Food

L14, the breakfast restaurant, offers an extensive spread with a notable variety of pastries for those with a sweet tooth. The dining area is large enough to seat over 100 guests without feeling crowded. Live counters serve South Indian specialties and other regional dishes, ensuring a diverse morning menu.

Zaffran, the hotel’s in-house restaurant, hosts cocktail hours from 5–7 PM and serves dinner in a comfortable setting decorated with Awadhi-themed artwork. The ambiance suits relaxed dinners and special occasions alike.

Hospitality

Small, thoughtful touches made our stay memorable: a modest room decoration, an in-room birthday cake, and a fruit platter. The Front Office Manager, Mr. Vedant Gore, personally greeted my spouse at Zaffran, adding a warm, personal touch. During breakfast the following morning, team members Madhu and Shivani surprised my spouse with a chocolate pastry, which was a delightful and memorable gesture.

Bottomline

  • Cardexpert Rating: 4.4/5

Renaissance Lucknow ranks among the city’s top five-star hotels. The ability to use Marriott Bonvoy points for a fully redeemed stay is a significant advantage, and paid rates are competitive relative to other luxury options in the area. My stay was excellent, and I plan to return.
