Starting this week, American Express India has added new ways to redeem Membership Rewards (MR) points that can deliver higher value than recent options like the Gold Collection or Marriott Bonvoy transfers. These redemptions let cardmembers exchange MR points for curated luxury experiences across categories such as stays (packages), dining and sports, delivered in partnership with luxury travel specialist Dreamsetgo.
The new redemption options are already live on the Amex Membership Rewards portal and operate via voucher-based redemptions. Below is a clear summary of what’s available, what to expect and how to assess value.

Stay experiences
Stay experiences include curated two-night packages at highly photographed, luxury properties often marketed as “postcard” hotels. These vouchers typically cover the room and breakfast, and other inclusions vary by property and season. Some redemptions may be limited to specific travel windows, so check the voucher terms and conditions before booking. Note that many of these properties are located a significant drive from major airports, and incidentals—meals, transfers, activities—may not be covered.
Dining experiences
Dining experiences cover exclusive culinary events and curated meals at premium venues. These redemptions are ideal for food lovers seeking special tasting menus, chef interactions or private dining options. As with stays, specific inclusions and the number of guests allowed per voucher are detailed in the redemption terms.
Adventure experiences
Adventure and sports experiences include high-adrenaline activities and premium sporting events, such as driving experiences and curated day packages at exclusive venues. These are a welcome addition for members who prefer experiences over traditional hotel redemptions.
All available options and their terms are listed on the American Express experiences page. Redemptions appear to be straightforward voucher exchanges; each voucher includes detailed t&c describing validity, inclusions, geographic limits and any seasonal restrictions.
I reviewed the terms and conditions for several offerings—most look reasonable and consistent with the service level cardmembers expect from Amex. Still, some items are seasonal and availability may vary. It would be helpful if Amex provided quick-glance details such as number of guests, location and inclusions up front rather than requiring a dive into small-print PDFs.
Which is best?
For many members, the postcard hotel stay redemptions will be the most attractive. Popular beach and boutique properties—especially those near Goa—are likely to draw the most interest. Keep in mind that these stays often require additional spending during the trip: transfers, meals beyond breakfast and activities can add considerably to the total cost, sometimes ₹20,000 or more depending on the property and choices.
The Abu Dhabi sports package is another compelling option for enthusiasts; it’s great to see such experiences added to the catalogue. In future, adding experiences such as a Dubai skydive could further broaden appeal.
What’s the value?
On list rates, some of the postcard hotel vouchers imply a redemption value around ₹1 per MR point or higher. However, these properties often command premium pricing, so perceived value may exceed realistic market comparables. That said, even a conservative view shows an improvement over the typical Amex baseline in India, where MR points commonly redeem at around ₹0.50 each through other channels.
In short, these curated experiences can double the practical value of MR points for certain redemptions, particularly when a member desires the specific experience offered rather than a generic hotel night.
Bottomline
American Express has started 2024 by expanding redemption choices for Indian cardmembers with a clear focus on premium, experience-led options. These new vouchers can meaningfully increase the value of MR points and add memorable travel and lifestyle opportunities for cardholders.
If you’ve been considering the current Amex Platinum Charge Card upgrade offer that includes a large MR welcome bonus, these new redemption possibilities strengthen the case for upgrading: you can redeem bonus points for curated experiences such as luxury stays or premium driving and sports activities. The Amex Platinum Travel Card and other premium Amex products with milestone benefits can also access many of these redemptions.
