ITC WelcomHotel Pine n Peak Pahalgam Review & Stay Guide

Nestled among dense pine trees on the Rajwas plateau and set beside the serene Lidder River, WelcomHotel Pine n Peak is currently the only branded five-star property in Pahalgam. Below is a concise review of my recent stay, covering booking, arrival, facilities, dining, hospitality and nearby sightseeing.

Booking

As with most hill-station properties, room rates here are higher than city equivalents. Base-category rooms generally start around INR 20,000 plus taxes and rise during peak winter (snow) and summer seasons. Rates commonly include complimentary breakfast for two adults; our family (2 adults + 2 children) were accommodated for breakfast without issues.

I booked a base room with Pine & Gulistaan view for two nights using 23,200 ITC Green Points per night through the ITC Hotels app during a lean season. At checkout the taxes were also covered using ITC Green Points, resulting in no out-of-pocket expense for the stay.

Check-in

We arrived in the evening and completed check-in with ID verification. The reception invited us to the nearby lobby-level Saahil Lounge for evening tea (kahwa) and light snacks while our room was prepared. When we returned, our room key was ready.

During check-in we were offered a complimentary one-level upgrade. After viewing both options, we chose the upgraded adjacent room with a balcony.

The Property

The property is surrounded by mature pine trees and features a well-kept garden called Gulistaan. Outdoor spaces and balconies offer pleasing views of the greenery and the Lidder River. Public areas are clean and thoughtfully designed to make the most of the location.

The Food

Saahil Tea Lounge provides a small but comforting evening spread of tea, kahwa, sandwiches and cookies. The lounge’s open balcony is ideal for relaxing while enjoying the view.

Breakfast at WelcomCafe Lolaab is substantial, featuring a live South-Indian counter and garden views overlooking the Lidder. Standout items during my stay included Beetroot Halwa on select days and crisp Coconut Cookies—both worth trying.

ITC Hospitality

At checkout I spoke briefly with the hotel GM, Mr. Puran Mia, who kindly offered a pack of their signature Walnut Pie. The pastry, made with desi ghee and a cake-like texture, was excellent and reflective of the property’s local culinary touch.

Service throughout the stay was prompt and attentive. When my room key failed, a replacement was delivered within minutes. Requests for water bottles, extra towels and other items were handled quickly, demonstrating efficient and courteous staff performance.

Sightseeing

  • Pahalgam Market: 1.8 km
  • Baisaran Valley: 5 km
  • Aru Valley: 9 km
  • Betaab Valley: 12 km

Aru and Betaab valleys can be visited together by taxi. Fixed taxi rates apply whether you hire from the market or through the hotel, though rates may be higher during peak season. If the hotel arranges transport, the vehicle typically originates from the market taxi stand and payment is made directly to the driver.

Baisaran and Betaab are highly recommended excursions. Horse rides to Baisaran are available from the hotel entrance, but prices tend to be higher there; booking from the Pahalgam market is usually more economical.

Note: Walking between the hotel and market after dark is not advisable during off-peak times, as roads can be poorly lit and isolated.

Bottomline

  • Cardexpert Rating: 4.5/5

WelcomHotel Pine n Peak delivers stunning views, a well-maintained garden area and consistently strong service from a courteous team. The experience feels premium, though even in the lean season the pricing can seem somewhat steep. For those seeking a comfortable, full-service stay in Pahalgam with scenic surroundings, it remains an excellent choice.
