This targeted offer is available only to cardholders who received the communication on their existing American Express credit card. Valuing MR points at roughly 0.50 INR per point (via Marriott redemptions), the 125K points do not fully cover the increased joining fee or the alternative Taj voucher option. Given the pattern of offers, it may be prudent to wait a few months—Amex could reintroduce 135K–140K MR point offers first, and possibly return to a 150K promotion within three to six months.

At an estimated 0.52 INR per Marriott point after Amex-Marriott transfers, this promotion effectively covered the joining fee and made the card’s benefits free for the first year for many who could maximize MR point value. 140K Upgrade Offer (Nov 2024)

While 140K MR points are attractive, this offer was less compelling than prior deals tied to lower joining fees. Nevertheless, for many it represented good value and foreshadowed the possibility of returning to 150K level promotions as more customers completed upgrades.

This promotion removed some earlier renewal perks but still delivered strong value at the lower joining fee. For many prospective upgraders, the 135K offer represented a sensible middle ground between cost and benefits.

Amex Platinum Charge upgrade offers typically represent good opportunities if you can extract strong value from MR points.
