HDFC Bank Diners Club Black credit card remains one of India’s top super-premium cards. Its industry-leading 10X rewards made a strong impression on competitors at launch, and even years later many rivals still lag behind.
From 1st Nov 2019 the card receives several new features, and HDFC has also introduced a new Diners variant called Privilege. Below is a clear summary of the new benefits and how they apply.

HDFC Diners Black New Features
#1 Membership Benefits
- Club Marriott (new cards only)
- Forbes Digital subscription (new cards only)
- Zomato Gold
- Amazon Prime
- MakeMyTrip Double Black
- Times Prime
- Big Basket Star (renewing cards only)
Complimentary membership benefits are offered as part of the welcome package for new cards and as part of renewal for existing cards, depending on the specific membership. Exact eligibility and timing will be clear after 1st December 2019 when the bank begins applying the changes.
#2 Annual Benefit
Spend Rs. 8 lakhs in the card anniversary year to receive the membership benefits listed above. For renewals, note that some memberships are available only to new cards while others remain exclusive to renewals.
The renewal fee waiver at Rs. 5 lakh annual spend remains in place.
#3 Monthly Benefit
On monthly spend of Rs. 80,000 you can choose any TWO vouchers from the following:
- Ola Select membership
- BookMyShow voucher worth Rs. 500
- TataCLiQ voucher worth Rs. 500
This effectively adds about 1% extra value on qualifying spend, stacked on top of the regular returns (roughly 3.3%), taking the effective reward rate to about 4.3% on those eligible spends.
#4 Dining Benefit
- 2X Reward Points on dining transactions during weekends
This weekend dining boost increases the value you get on food purchases made on weekends. Note the benefit applies on weekends only, unlike some other premium cards that offer higher rewards on dining any day.
#5 Lounge Access
- Unlimited lounge access for both primary and add-on cards
The updated terms clarify that unlimited lounge access applies to both the primary cardholder and add-on cardholders, resolving prior ambiguity where the benefit appeared restricted to the primary card only.
#6 Design

Marketing images on the Diners landing page suggested a slight visual update highlighting the word “Black.” However, the bank has since confirmed there is no actual change to the physical card design—the banner text appears to be illustrative.
Upgrade for Existing Customers
1) Complimentary annual membership benefits:
Existing Diners Black cardholders can earn the complimentary annual membership benefits by reaching an annual spend milestone of Rs. 8 lakhs by the card anniversary date (card anniversary = 12 months from card opening month).
2) Complimentary welcome membership benefits immediately:
- a) Upgrade: Upgrade to the new HDFC Bank Diners Club Black Credit Card by paying the joining/renewal fee of Rs. 5,000. Upgrades can be requested through NetBanking or PhoneBanking after 1st December 2019.
- b) Introductory offer: If you achieve a spend of Rs. 2.5 lakhs in either Aug–Oct 2019 or Nov–Jan 2020, your card becomes eligible for the new Diners Club Black upgrade after 1st December 2019, under your card’s current pricing at that time.
New Card: Diners Club Privilege

HDFC Bank introduced the HDFC Bank Diners Privilege Credit Card (fee: Rs. 2,500 + GST), positioned between Diners Black and Diners Club Miles. It combines the reward structure of Club Miles with select membership benefits from Diners Black, offering an option for customers who want many of the Black perks at a lower fee point.
The Privilege card is a reasonable upgrade path for users who cannot obtain Diners Black. If you plan to upgrade, ensure your credit limit is roughly Rs. 3 lakh or higher to improve approval chances.
Bottomline:
Overall, these additions strengthen the Diners Black card, which was already a strong choice for super-premium rewards. While some promotional changes earlier in 2019 disappointed heavy 10X rewards users, the new benefits are a welcome enhancement.
HDFC Bank continues to lead in the super-premium card space; other issuers offer similar taglines like “10X rewards,” but HDFC’s overall package remains highly competitive.
Update: One downside: cardholders who paid the annual fee for Diners Black may no longer receive the 5,000 points on renewal under the new structure. For many users who spend over Rs. 5 lakh annually, this change may have limited practical impact.
