One of the benefits I’ve been waiting for in banking and credit cards is access to my credit report as part of the product benefits. Banks are beginning to prioritize this, and recently HDFC Bank started offering a free CIBIL report.
ICICI Bank has taken that a step further by integrating CIBIL report access into its mobile banking app. Unlike HDFC, which allows anyone to view the report online for free, ICICI currently offers this benefit complimentary only to its Wealth Management customers through the iMobile app.
It’s worth noting that this free report feature is not yet available in ICICI’s net banking interface. That may change as the integration evolves. Below is how to access your free CIBIL report via the ICICI iMobile app.

How to Check CIBIL report via ICICI App
- Update the ICICI iMobile app if you haven’t already.
- Go to the Accounts & Deposits section.
- Tap on “My Credit Bureau Report.”
- On the next page, select “View CIBIL Report.”
- Your CIBIL score and summary will appear.
You can choose to download the full CIBIL report or review the key parameters displayed within the app (verified on iOS). Screenshots in the article show how the information is presented.

Note: You may encounter an occasional error, especially at the final step. If that happens, retry after a few minutes — persistence usually works; I had to try multiple times before it succeeded.
Who Can avail?
At present, this feature is available only to ICICI Bank’s Wealth Management customers (minimum relationship value around Rs. 25 lakh). You can also gain wealth status as a reciprocal benefit by holding certain premium ICICI credit cards such as Sapphiro, Emeralde and Diamant.
I hold Wealth status through the Emeralde Credit Card. Earlier, Wealth status primarily meant faster customer service access; it’s encouraging to see practical benefits like in-app CIBIL report access being added.
Things to know
- Report refresh period: approximately 45 days.
A 45-day refresh cycle is sufficient for most users. When the app fetches your report, it also updates the record on your regular CIBIL login if you have one. In my experience there can be slight differences in data between the app-fetched version and the CIBIL web view.
Pro tip: Time your HDFC and ICICI fetches so you can view updated reports more frequently without a paid subscription.
If you currently pay for a CIBIL subscription, accessing the report through ICICI could save you around Rs. 1,000 per year.
What could be better?
- Support for additional credit bureaus such as Experian would be useful.
- Showing more account details (credit limits, recent utilization, etc.) directly on the screen without downloading the full report would improve usability.
Bottomline
This is a welcome feature that fulfills one of the improvements I had hoped to see. It’s great to see banks adding practical, customer-focused benefits for premium customers.
I hope more banks and card issuers provide similar complimentary access to credit reports for their premium and super-premium customers via apps and net banking.
That’s my quick take — enjoying a small wish becoming reality.
