This is the promotion I received on the HDFC Infinia card. The voucher value is attractive and effectively increases the return on spend by roughly 3% for the qualifying transactions. For premium cards such offers significantly boost overall rewards, making targeted spending during the offer window worthwhile.

I received this offer on the SBI Prime card. It delivers about a 2% incremental return on qualifying spend. While any extra return is welcome, vouchers with values under Rs. 1,000 feel small for a premium product like Prime. Hopefully future SBICards promotions will offer higher-value vouchers or improved thresholds to match premium card expectations.

Bottomline

HDFC has been sending spend-based offers regularly since late 2019, with the March 2020 promotion marking a return after a brief gap in February. These targeted offers tend to be particularly rewarding on super-premium cards, where they can meaningfully increase effective reward rates.

By contrast, SBICards sends spend-based promotions infrequently; I received such offers only a couple of times in 2019. When they do appear, the value and thresholds have room for improvement to make them truly compelling for premium cardholders.
