Offer Details
This year’s promotion is structured as an “either/or” target with two selectable spend thresholds. Key points are:
| Offer | Spend XXXX and get vouchers worth YYYY |
| Spend Exclusions | Nil |
| Offer Period | 15 September 2025 – 25 October 2025 |
| Fulfilment | On or before 15 Dec 2025 |
| Return on Spend | ~3% |
| Source | Email – Refer to T&C |
Notably, there are no specific exclusions listed, which simplifies participation—any eligible card spend during the offer period appears to count. The reward comes in the form of vouchers from a range of popular brands.
Offer Variants
| Spend Range | Reward (INR) | Reward Rate (%) |
|---|---|---|
| ≥ 15L | 35,000 | 2.33 |
| 10L – < 15L | 30,000 | 3.00 |
| 7L – 10L | 20,000 | 2.86 |
| 5L – 7L | 15,000 | 3.00 |
| 4L – 5L | 12,000 | 3.00 |
| 3L – 4L | 10,000 | 3.33 |
| 2L – 3L | 6,000 | 3.00 |
| > 1L – 2L | 3,000 | 3.00 |
| 50K – 1L | 1,500 | 3.00 |
The reward rates hover around 3% for most spend bands, with some slight variation at the highest spend tier. Different cardholders may see slightly different variants, but the overall reward levels are broadly similar.
American Express appears to have distributed this targeted offer widely among eligible cardholders.
My Offer
Last year I received a modest Diwali offer because my Amex spending had dropped. With higher spends in 2025, I received an improved targeted offer this year, shown below:
For my American Express Reserve Card, the offer works out to roughly a 3% reward rate—reasonable for targeted festive promotions. The email creative itself caught my eye, though, for using a model with a foreign appearance in the artwork.
Final Thoughts
Historically, Amex’s festive promotions offered higher returns—sometimes up to 10% back. Over the years, that value has steadily declined: first toward 4%, and now commonly around 3% in targeted campaigns.
With Amex offers becoming less generous, other issuers have stepped up. HSBC, for example, delivered a compelling Diwali offer in 2024 and could emerge as a leader again depending on this year’s promotions.
