SBICard appears to have sent targeted spend-based offers to selected cardholders, with a BigBasket voucher as the reward. I received this particular offer; other cardholders may have been targeted with different rewards.
The initial communication arrived via SMS with limited details. An email notification followed later with full terms. Below are the current details of the offer:
Offer Details

| Offer | Rs.1,000 BigBasket voucher |
| Offer Type | Spend-based, targeted |
| Spend Requirement | Rs.25,000 or above |
| Offer Period | 15 May – 15 Jun 2020 |
| Excluded Spends | International transactions, cash withdrawals, fuel, Easy Bill Pay |
| Return on Spend | Approximately 4% plus regular card rewards |
| Source | SMS & Email – Terms & Conditions |
This is a typical SBICard spend-based promotion. It’s clear and easy to understand.
- I will update this post with any additional details once more communications arrive.
- Update: The email confirmation arrived a few days later.

My Thoughts
A roughly 4% return on incremental spend through an SBI Prime card is a strong proposition, especially when it stacks with the card’s existing quarterly rewards in cases like mine.
It’s good to see SBICard offering a voucher that’s genuinely useful for groceries rather than a gadget or low-utility item. While Amazon vouchers might have been preferable for some, a BigBasket voucher is practical for everyday needs.
I’m still hoping other issuers, like HDFC, will roll out compelling spend-based offers as well.
