HDFC Credit Card: Earn 5X Points or JPMiles on International POS Spend

HDFC Bank’s Diners Club promotion for 10X points on international spends has proven popular, and now the bank has extended a similar benefit to other card families. While this offer isn’t as generous as the Diners promotion, it still provides a solid opportunity to earn accelerated rewards abroad. Cardholders can earn 5X reward points on eligible rewards-linked cards and 5X JPMiles on JetPrivilege-branded cards. Details follow.

Bottomline

The 5X Reward Points promotion is particularly useful for cardholders planning international travel during the summer season. Cards such as Regalia and Regalia First can deliver meaningful savings on foreign spending, and premium options like Infinia may generate even higher effective value depending on how you redeem points. For many travellers, this translates into a notable percentage-value return on spend.

The 5X JPMiles promotion on JetPrivilege cards offers strong earning rates per rupee, but lower caps limit the total miles available during the promotional period. Still, given that Jet-branded cards are often excluded from HDFC promos, their inclusion here is a welcome change. It would be more attractive if HDFC increased the earning caps in future promotions.

A key restriction to note is that the offer applies only to in-person POS transactions and excludes online purchases, which may reduce its usefulness for some cardholders. Overall, though, this is a worthwhile, targeted promotion for customers who expect to spend on card while travelling internationally.
