Ever since I started exploring credit cards, I wanted HDFC Bank’s Infinia Credit Card. For a long time it was considered India’s premier super-premium card.
Today there are solid alternatives like Standard Chartered Ultimate and Citi Prestige, and several others that suit different needs. Still, Infinia retains a sense of exclusivity and remains an excellent choice for several reasons: accelerated rewards on dining, flexible credit limits and periodic merchant offers.
Note: If you want a full rundown of Infinia’s features and benefits, check the updated review on the card’s dedicated page.

My Journey to Infinia
- Business Platinum > Business Regalia > Jet World/Signature > Infinia
I began with a Business Platinum card and progressed through several premium products before reaching Infinia. I originally planned to upgrade directly from Regalia to Infinia but got sidetracked by Jet-branded cards and pursued Jet World/Signature with the intention of moving toward Jet Platinum.
Eventually I reconsidered additional Jet products since I already had a large number of JPMiles. After reassessing my needs, I continued toward Infinia.
Getting Approved for Infinia
Infinia approvals are typically handled through relationship managers at branch level. My first application was declined despite approvals at various levels, for reasons that were legitimate.
Over the years I increased my spends and deepened my relationship with the bank, which made my later approval straightforward.
I received the card with the first-year fee waived. The annual fee is waived on eligible spends (8 lakh), otherwise a fee applies with points as compensation.
HDFC Infinia Unboxing
The Box: The Infinia arrived in a premium box, similar in presentation to other exclusive cards but in a landscape format.
Contents: Primary credit card, add-on card and a Priority Pass for the primary cardholder. The Priority Pass for the add-on card arrived separately about a week later. Interestingly, both Priority Pass cards share the same membership number.
Design: The card is understated and elegant, with gold-colored numbers and a refined finish. Below are photos showing the packaging and the card.

Credit Limit
I didn’t request an immediate limit increase, so my assigned limit remained unchanged. A helpful feature of Infinia is a buffer limit: a dynamic, temporary margin above the assigned credit limit that can generally be around 10% but varies by account.
If you exceed the buffer limit, Infinia often allows a temporary enhancement—sometimes up to about twice the assigned limit—on request and subject to approval. The bank reviews linked accounts and card history to grant this temporary boost, typically for around 10 days. In practice, cardholders rarely need to chase permanent limit increases with Infinia.
One improvement I’d welcome: Small welcome gifts or vouchers included with the card. Some banks provide personalized cardholders or travel-related items that create memorable first impressions. These gestures cost little for the issuer but significantly boost customer delight and brand recall.
My Experience
2X Dining Benefit: For a while I frequently dined out to maximize the 2X points on dining. Later I shifted more dining spend to food delivery platforms during attractive discount periods, but the Infinia’s dining rewards remain valuable. The 2X points also apply to international dining, which I used on a recent trip to Vietnam. In addition, occasional 10X promotions add strong value.
Vistara Gold and Other Benefits: I received Vistara Gold and upgrade vouchers with the card earlier, which enabled a few business-class trips. Even after some benefits changed, Infinia has continued to offer premium loyalty ties like Club Marriott membership in its benefit mix.
Customer Service: Customer support has been reliable. I rarely need to call, but when I did—about a reward fulfilment matter—the service was helpful.
Contactless: My original card did not have contactless capability; I requested a contactless replacement and it is on the way.
Final Thoughts
Overall, getting Infinia was a worthwhile journey. I’ve been using the card for dining, international spending and everyday purchases since receiving it, and it continues to deliver where it matters: flexibility, premium perks and rewards. If you value top-tier service and a strong rewards structure—especially on dining and travel—Infinia remains a compelling option.
