One of the most requested features for HDFC’s super-premium credit cards such as HDFC Infinia and Diners Club Black has been clear, transaction-level visibility of reward points. Cardholders often found it difficult to verify how offers like the 10X rewards program were fulfilled and frequently had to call customer support to confirm points earned on specific transactions.
You no longer need to make that call every time. The wait is over—at least partially.
New Features
I received my March 2021 Infinia credit card statement and noticed a few useful additions beyond the usual details:
- Feature Reward Points: The statement now shows how many reward points were earned for each individual transaction. This applies to both domestic and international spends, giving clear per-transaction visibility for base and feature-specific points.
- Rewards Program Points Summary: This section—effectively a summary of bonus or accelerated points—shows the extra reward points that were credited to your rewards account during that statement period. It clarifies the total bonus points applied for the month, though not always shown per transaction.
- Cashback Summary: This portion lists cashbacks credited to the card account within the statement period. On my statement I can see the global value cashback, and it may also include items such as fuel surcharge waivers where applicable.
Final Thoughts
This is a welcome and practical enhancement. Per-transaction display of feature reward points helps cardholders understand how base rewards are calculated without having to contact support.
However, it doesn’t completely resolve the broader transparency issue. Bonus or promotional points are often not fulfilled immediately; they may be credited days or weeks later. Because of that delay, bonus points are summarized at the statement level rather than shown against each transaction. A per-transaction bonus points column would offer much clearer reconciliation for members participating in promotional offers.
If HDFC wants to further delight super-premium cardholders, they could consider updating monthly statements after the typical fulfillment window (for example, 60–90 days) to include a bonus-points column per transaction and make these updated statements available for download via net-banking. From a technical standpoint this is feasible and would significantly reduce queries about offer fulfillment.
For now, the summary approach makes sense given current fulfillment timelines, but a future enhancement to report bonus points per transaction would be a meaningful improvement.
- Update: This feature was enabled for Diners Club Black and Regalia as well from May 2021.
It appears this functionality was initially focused on Infinia and Diners Club Black cardholders, though the bank may expand it to other premium cards over time.
Note: The rollout has been phased, so not all Infinia or Diners Club Black cardholders will see this immediately. It should reach all eligible accounts soon.
