ICICI Bank Launches iShop: Earn Up to 12X Reward Points

ICICI Bank has launched iShop, a shopping and travel-booking portal that delivers accelerated rewards on purchases, similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy. The portal aims to boost returns on eligible spends through bonus points and simplified redemptions.

iShop advertises up to 12X rewards on selected categories, which translates to reward rates as high as 36% for some premium cards. Below is a concise guide to the program, how the bonus works, redemption mechanics and early user experience.

Accelerated Rewards

Credit Card Regular Rewards iShop Flights / Vouchers (6X) iShop Hotels (12X)
Emeralde Private Metal 3% 18% 36%
Times Black 2% 12% 24%
Emeralde PVC 1% 6% 12%
Other Cards 0.75% 3% 6%
Co-brand Cards
(Cashback)
~ 4% 4%

Debit cards and NetBanking transactions are also eligible for some accelerated rewards, though their returns are modest compared with credit cards. The highest advertised benefit is up to 36% on hotel bookings for top-tier cards, and up to 18% on flights and eVouchers.

  • Update: Within about two weeks of launch, ICICI introduced caps on accelerated rewards for certain vouchers including Flipkart and Amazon. The monthly limit for those vouchers is ₹12,000.

Max Cap

Card Max. Cap (on Bonus)
Emeralde Private Metal 18,000 Points
Times Black 15,000 Points
Emeralde PVC 12,000 Points
Other Cards
(Coral, CSK, HPCL, ManU, Parakram, Rubyx, Sapphiro)
9,000 Points
Co-Branded Cards
(Amazon, Adani, Emirates, MMT, etc.)
₹1,100 Cashback

Given these caps, premium cards such as ICICI Emeralde Private Metal and ICICI Times Black present the best opportunity to benefit from iShop. Their combination of higher bonus rates and larger caps means more value for heavy users. For example, the caps equate roughly to spending around ₹1 lakh on flights/vouchers for the highest-tier card or about ₹50,000 on hotels to reach the maximum bonus.

It is not yet clear whether the caps apply per calendar month or per statement cycle; users should monitor their statements until ICICI clarifies.

Redemption

  • Flights: Redeemable at 95% value using points (1 point = ₹1).
  • Hotels: Redeemable at 90% value using points (1 point = ₹1).
  • eVouchers: Redeemable at 50% value using points (1 point = 0.60 INR effective).

ICICI now operates two redemption paths: the regular rewards portal (which replaced Payback) and the iShop portal. Points earned on credit cards can be redeemed on iShop either partially or fully, subject to the redemption values above.

Early impressions suggest iShop is competitive with other bank portals for travel redemptions. The interface is clean, lists linked cards and available points clearly, and makes it straightforward to verify bonus points before checkout. However, transfer partners for points (airline and other loyalty programs) are not fully integrated yet; ICICI’s regular rewards portal currently supports a 1:1 transfer to Air India.

Is it Live?

There has been no formal public launch announcement from ICICI. Wealth Banking support offered limited clarity, and PR confirmed there was no official launch communication at the time of inquiry. Despite that, the portal is visible and functional to some users—similar to how other banks have rolled out portals quietly before formal announcements. For now the service appears available but in an early or soft-launch state.

This early availability seems to target reward maximizers while allowing the bank to ramp up the program and revenue concurrently.

iShop Portal

  • Visit the iShop login page on ICICI Bank and sign in with your bank credentials to access the portal.
  • Browse categories from the menu and view eligible offers.
  • Before placing an order, verify the bonus points applicable to your linked card.
  • Proceed with payment once you confirm the bonus and redemption options.

Hands-on experience

On first use, a card transaction attempt for eVouchers was declined for “security reasons.” A short call to support to whitelist the merchant cleared the issue, and a subsequent attempt succeeded. The purchased vouchers worked as expected.

One inconsistency observed was that the portal picked up rewards from an ICICI Sapphiro card but did not recognize rewards on an Emeralde Private Metal card. This has been reported to support for investigation.

It remains to be seen whether bonus points will post as regular rewards or as a distinct iCash balance, and how quickly they will reflect.

In a nutshell

Historically, ICICI credit cards were not the first choice for rewards-focused users due to modest base rates. With iShop’s accelerated rewards, premium ICICI cards such as Emeralde Private Metal and Times Black suddenly become much more attractive and competitive against offerings from Axis and HDFC.

Because cards like Emeralde Private Metal are harder to obtain, demand may grow for accessible options such as the Times Black card. For users who cannot secure top-tier cards from Axis or HDFC, iShop-backed ICICI cards could be a compelling alternative.

Early signs for iShop are promising; ongoing clarity on caps, posting timelines and partner integrations will determine whether it reshapes how customers value ICICI rewards. Meanwhile, users can enjoy significantly higher rewards on eligible spends through the portal.
