It has been just over a year since I applied for and received the HSBC Premier Credit Card, and recently I was sent a targeted email offering a credit limit increase.
The new limit proposed in the email was more than double my previous limit, placing it on par with the highest limits I hold on other banks’ premium cards.
Below is a screenshot of the offer email I received:
In just a year, HSBC has shown considerable flexibility by offering a limit comparable to top-tier cards from other issuers, such as the HDFC Infinia.
That said, my initial credit limit on approval was fairly modest, which I noted in my hands-on review of the Premier Credit Card. In that regard HSBC’s approach resembles that of some other issuers: they often start cardmembers with a lower limit and then increase it substantially over time for responsible users.
