I visit Coimbatore frequently and had driven past this property more than ten times in recent months without stopping. When I started searching for nearby Starwood hotels, Le Méridien Coimbatore caught my attention and turned out to have much more to offer than I expected.
Quick Info: Le Méridien Coimbatore is an upscale business hotel with a European luxury aesthetic consistent with the brand. It is the largest hotel in Coimbatore and sits on the outskirts of the city surrounded by open land. The airport is only a short 10-minute drive away.

Le Meridien Coimbatore Hotel Review:
Booking:
- Cost: 3,000 SPG Star Points
The award night initially didn’t show in the app because the standard rooms at 2,000 points were sold out. After calling SPG support, I booked a Club room for 3,000 points, which included breakfast and a complimentary one-hour drinks and snacks session in the evening.
I value 1 SPG point at roughly Rs. 1.50, so this stay cost about Rs. 4,500 in my valuation — excellent value compared with typical cash rates of Rs. 8,000+.
Lobby & Check-in:
The entrance opens to a spacious lobby with a large central seating area. A very tall chandelier hangs from the third-floor atrium; the hotel claims it is one of the largest in Asia. The check-in desks are to the left and there is a separate counter for SPG Gold and Platinum members. Our reservation was upgraded to a Junior Suite, and staff escorted us to the suite after check-in.

Junior Suite at Le Meridien Coimbatore:
Living Room:
The suite opens into a living room furnished with a large sofa, a comfortable chair and a coffee table. The décor follows a grey and black theme; the living area has wooden flooring while the bedroom is marble floored. A short hallway connects the living room to the bedroom, offering a sense of separation and added privacy for guests who may entertain visitors in the living area.

Bedroom:
The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were exceptionally soft — one of the largest hotel pillows I’ve seen. The work desk and chair were functional and suited for business use. The suite faces open land with a distant city view. A couple of complimentary vouchers were placed on the bed, including one for a free coffee, which we had delivered to the room.

Bathroom:
The hallway also leads to a spacious bathroom with a sliding door. It features a marble sink and bathtub, TOTO fixtures and a rain shower — a comfortable and well-appointed space.

Complimentary One Hour Drinks:
One of the best value additions is the complimentary one-hour drinks and snacks, usually served at the lobby bar between 6–8pm. When we arrived the bar was quiet, with only a handful of guests. The hotel offered unlimited hot drinks and a selection of soft drinks and snacks. We tried the veg balls and fried chicken, which were replenished a couple of times — enough to serve as a light dinner.
- Approx. Value: Rs. 1,000

Note that this offering is served in the bar, so it may not be ideal for families seeking a quieter or more private setting. That could explain why it wasn’t crowded during our visit.
Breakfast:
Breakfast is served in the grand lobby-level restaurant. The buffet includes a wide selection of fruits, juices and hot dishes, with a generous spread suitable for both business and leisure travelers.

Bottomline:
As the largest hotel in the city, Le Méridien Coimbatore provides the full range of luxury hotel amenities and is well suited for layovers or stays when you don’t need to be in the heart of the city. Standard rooms typically run around Rs. 5,000, comparable to other upscale Coimbatore options. If you redeem points, this property offers particularly good value.
- Hotel Rating: 4/5
