Pay Rent using Housing mobile app

Online rent payments have gained significant traction recently, even during periods of lockdown when many services slowed down. Several players entered the space, offering convenient ways to pay rent with cards and UPI. Housing.com has now added a “Pay Rent” feature to its mobile app, enabling tenants to transfer rent using credit cards, debit cards, or UPI. The feature is currently available only in the app, with a web rollout planned for the near future. Below is a concise overview of how it works and what to expect.

What’s the Process?

The workflow is straightforward and can be completed in four steps:

  1. Enter your personal details
  2. Provide your landlord’s bank details
  3. Add the property information
  4. Enter the payment amount and complete checkout

Housing uses Razorpay to process transactions, offering a familiar and smooth payment interface. In testing, payments were transferred to the landlord via IMPS in about one hour. After payment, you can download or share a rent receipt, which summarizes the payment in a simple format.

Bottomline

  • Cardexpert Rating: 4.3/5

Overall, Housing’s Pay Rent feature delivers a polished user interface, quick settlement, and a paperless process. It ranks among the better options for paying rent online with a credit card in India. If you use cards like American Express or Diners Club, availability may vary across rent platforms, so confirm card acceptance before initiating payment.

Using the Housing app can yield rewards from the platform and from your card issuer, creating multiple incentive layers. For tenants, moving rent payments from traditional NEFT/IMPS methods to card-based solutions can provide a longer credit period and potential reward earnings.
