RBL Bank introduced the Signature+ debit card as a standalone offering. As the name implies, the card is issued in the Visa Signature variant and targets customers seeking premium debit card benefits without enrolling in a full premium banking relationship.
The Signature+ card is not automatically linked to all RBL savings accounts. Instead, you can open any RBL savings account — including the digital savings option with a minimum average monthly balance (AMB) of ₹5,000 — and then request an upgrade to the Signature+ debit card at an RBL branch or via the RBL MoBank app.
When you upgrade, the default debit card originally issued with your savings account is closed after the Signature+ card is activated.
Note that the Signature+ debit card is distinct from RBL’s Signature credit card that comes with the bank’s premium banking program; the two products have different issuance criteria and benefits.

Fee Structure
- Joining Fee: ₹5,000 + GST = ₹5,900 (no waiver at issuance)
- Welcome Benefit: ₹5,000 worth of gift vouchers (GV)
- Renewal Fee: ₹1,500 + GST = ₹1,770
- Renewal Fee Waiver: Annual spends above ₹3 lakh in the previous year
Question to consider:
With a relatively high joining fee and a tapered renewal fee, prospective applicants should compare this debit card’s benefits with premium and super-premium credit cards in the same fee bracket to determine value.
Note on welcome voucher delivery: I did not receive an immediate email to claim the welcome GV. The claim link is sent by email; in my case the welcome voucher of ₹5,000 was available roughly one month after the joining fee was charged.
Hands-on Experience
I opened an RBL digital savings account with the required ₹5,000 AMB using the full app-based onboarding. VKYC completed within an hour through Aadhaar authentication and PAN image capture. After funding the account with around ₹6,000, I requested the Signature+ upgrade the same day and the upgrade was processed immediately. The joining fee was debited instantly. The card appeared in the app within 48 hours, and the physical card was delivered in approximately 6–7 days.
Card Look & Feel
The card’s design is decent but understated. Print and plastic quality are average, with the cardholder’s name on the front and all card details printed on the back. The card arrived in a simple envelope without fancy packaging.
Milestone Benefits
The Signature+ card offers a monthly milestone benefit: earn 1% value-back as GV up to ₹1,000 per month on eligible spends made via POS or online using the card.
Eligible transactions currently include a wide range of online and offline payments made via different payment platforms. Some third-party bill payment apps may also qualify, allowing stacking opportunities in certain cases. This is described for informational purposes only.
To qualify for the monthly benefit, total monthly card spends must exceed ₹10,000.
How to claim: You will receive an email with a claim link between the 15th and 17th of the following month for that month’s eligible spends. The same link can be used to redeem monthly benefits.
Annual Milestone: Spend more than ₹5 lakh in a year to receive an additional ₹5,000 worth of GV as an annual reward.
Return on Spend
Return scenario: If you maximize monthly benefits (spend ₹1 lakh monthly, totaling ₹12 lakh annually), your rewards break down as follows:
- Monthly: ₹1,000 GV × 12 months = ₹12,000
- Annual: ₹5,000 GV = ₹5,000
Total rewards = ₹17,000. Considering the effective first-year cost after the welcome GV (joining fee ₹5,900 minus ₹5,000 GV) is ₹900, the net return on ₹12 lakh annual spends is about 1.34% for the first year and roughly 1.41% in subsequent years assuming the same reward profile.
- First-year return example (optimal smaller spend profile): Hitting the ₹5 lakh annual milestone is a practical sweet spot. If you spend ₹5 lakh in year one, you receive ₹10,000 in GV (monthly + annual) minus the effective joining cost, yielding roughly 1.82%.
- From the second year onward, with the renewal fee waived by meeting the ₹3 lakh prior-year spend, the effective return at ₹5 lakh annual spend is about 2% (₹10,000/₹5,00,000).
If annual spends exceed ₹12 lakh, the marginal return declines, so the card is most valuable up to about ₹12 lakh in yearly spends, ideally with consistent monthly spends and a minimum ₹10,000 in any month to trigger the monthly GV.
Gift Vouchers (GV): Rewards are redeemable across a broad selection of GVs at various denominations, with popular options including Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, BigBasket and similar merchants.
0% Forex Markup
A notable benefit is zero forex markup on foreign currency transactions, which makes the card attractive for international spending. However, cash withdrawals abroad carry a markup — for example, ATM withdrawals in the UAE incur a 3.5% fee on the Signature+ debit card.
Other Features
Lounge Access: The card includes two complimentary domestic airport lounge visits per quarter, covering a wide network of lounges across India.
Insurance: The card also comes with air accident and related travel covers, comparable to protections offered with premium cards in the market.
Bottomline
Despite the upfront joining fee, which is largely offset by the ₹5,000 welcome GV (excluding the GST portion), the RBL Signature+ debit card delivers competitive benefits. With monthly milestone rewards, an annual milestone, zero forex markup on transactions, lounge access, and insurance cover, it stands out as one of the most rewarding debit card options currently available in India for those who can meet the spend requirements.
RBL deserves credit for introducing a high-reward debit card that fills a niche between conventional debit offerings and premium credit card rewards, particularly for users who prefer debit-based spend without maintaining credit card lines.
