Tajview Agra Review: IHCL SeleQtions Hotel Experience

Spread across six acres with five floors and 92 rooms, Tajview Agra IHCL SeleQtions sits close to the Fatehabad Road Metro station and offers impressive views of the Taj Mahal from its Taj-facing rooms and the SkyDeck restaurant on the fifth floor. During my stay, the hotel’s occupancy skewed heavily toward international guests, who made up more than 80% of visitors.

Booking

Member rates for standard rooms typically start around ₹10,000 and rise with demand and season. Booking two to seven days in advance generally yields the best rates outside peak periods.

I booked one night for two adults and two children through the TATA Neu app at a 30% discounted member rate for ₹10,738 (non-refundable), paying 9,486 NeuCoins plus ₹1,252 via an Axis Bank Olympus credit card.

For the second night I used the TATA Neu app again, selecting a 20% members’ discount with the “Pay at Property” option. That stay was settled using a ₹9,912 Taj gift voucher from a previous credit-card benefit.

Note: TATA Neu app rates are often the most competitive across platforms. Current offers include a 20% members’ discount across Taj hotels, and cardholders of the HDFC Bank Tata Neu Infinity Card can sometimes access 30% non-refundable rates.

Check-in

Check-in was warm and efficient. A traditional tilak ceremony accompanied a welcome drink—herbal tea sweetened with jaggery. Formalities were completed in under two minutes after staff retrieved my details from a recent stay at Taj Dal View, Srinagar, so only a signature was required.

The Property

The hotel’s public areas are well maintained and tastefully decorated. During my visit there were festive decorations, reflecting a focus on seasonal celebrations and events. The property offers basic wellness facilities including a Jiva Spa, a compact gym with a steam room, a swimming pool, and a kitchen garden. There is also a small temple and an existing mazar on the grounds, preserved from before the hotel was built.

The Room

I requested an upgrade in advance via email and received a two-level upgrade—from a Deluxe Room with a city view to an Executive Room with a pool view on a higher floor. The room was comfortable, well-appointed and included Biotique toiletries in the bathroom.

The Food

Breakfast at Svanga, located on the lobby level, offered a varied and tasty spread with live counters for dosa, uttapam and omelettes. Dinner buffets include themed nights, with a special Sunday dinner during my stay. Adjacent to Svanga are Jhankar, an Indian restaurant, and Saqui Bar.

The Sky Deck on the fifth floor, open roughly from 11:00 to 23:00, provides rooftop views of the Taj Mahal and is a highlight for guests seeking a scenic dining experience. For local vegetarian options outside the hotel, GMB Sweets & Restaurant is about 400 meters away and provides reliable family dining; Domino’s is also nearby for familiar chain options.

Taj Hospitality

After check-in the Operations Head, Mr. Gagan, escorted me on a property tour highlighting the restaurants, spa, gym, pool, kitchen garden and the onsite temple and mazar. He recommended including Bharatpur’s Keoladeo National Park in our itinerary, which proved to be a memorable addition; the park is reachable from nearby Fatehpur Sikri and offers distinctive boating experiences that felt like private tours.

As welcome amenities, the hotel provided an attractive platter featuring a chocolate replica of the Taj Mahal, fresh fruit, cookies and a bottle of wine. Later that night a complimentary one-kilogram chocolate cake arrived as a birthday-month goodwill gesture.

The hotel celebrates major festivals with elaborate decorations; during my stay the Christmas decor added a festive touch. Service throughout the hotel was attentive: when I reported trouble signing into Netflix, technicians replaced the television within minutes. Staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay, making Tajview Agra a highly recommended option for visitors to the city.
