Chennai Airport’s domestic departures features two lounges. One is the familiar TFS lounge; the other, a newer and less crowded TFS Travel Club lounge near Gate 1 on the third floor. This review covers that newer lounge, which accepts a wide range of cards and offers a calm, comfortable space before your flight.

This lounge is among the best options at Chennai Airport’s domestic terminal. If it’s busy, the other TFS lounge near Gate 5 (3rd floor) offers a similar food menu but simpler interiors.
Check-in
I’ve visited several times, gaining access with a Vistara business class ticket and using an American Express credit card. Check-in is efficient and quick. Digital Priority Pass holders can be processed on the spot, as I observed during a recent visit.

Seating & interiors
The lounge features modern design and a variety of seating arrangements across three main sections:
- A comfortable lounging area immediately on entry, with side tables for drinks.
- A central dining area with tables and chairs for meals.
- An area with high stools overlooking the departure gates, convenient for watching boarding announcements.
If your departure gate is nearby you can time your exit from the lounge easily. Flight information displays are available, and a muted TV plays news for background viewing. The interiors are pleasant and thoughtfully arranged.

Food & service
I’ve used the lounge for both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast offers a decent selection—there’s room for more variety. For lunch I found the chapattis soft and the curries flavorful. Overall the food is satisfying and leans toward South Indian dishes.
Service is attentive and prompt. Staff may occasionally approach guests with offers related to American Express, and there’s a bar area where alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.

Filter coffee
The lounge’s filter coffee is a highlight and worth trying. Chennai and nearby Kumbakonam are known for traditional filter coffee, and this lounge serves a well-crafted brew with a richer, fuller taste than standard machine coffee. It’s a pleasant local touch that elevates the overall experience.

Bottomline
- Cardexpert Rating: 4.7/5
This TFS Travel Club lounge is a pleasant place to spend time before a domestic flight at Chennai—comfortable seating, reliable service, and notably good filter coffee. It ranks among the better domestic airport lounges in India, offering a relaxed environment for business and leisure travelers alike.
I travel through Chennai frequently and find this lounge consistently helpful during transit.
If you’ve visited this TFS Travel Club lounge and tried the filter coffee, feel free to share your experience in the comments.
