Important Update: Yes Bank is currently unstable as a bank, so their credit cards are no longer recommended for primary or secondary use. Please adjust your credit card strategy accordingly. Below are other top credit card options in India for 2020 to consider.
Yes Bank recently introduced a new credit card called “Premia,” positioned between Yes First Preferred and Yes Prosperity. The Yes Premia card is part of their premium banking product “YES Premia,” comparable to HDFC Preferred or Axis Priority.
- Joining Fee: ₹1,500 + GST
Currently, Yes Bank has been issuing many cards as Lifetime Free (LTF), so you may still be able to obtain the card without a fee.

Table of Contents
- Reward Rate
- Complimentary Lounge Access
- Reward Point Redemptions
- Overall Features & Benefits
- How to Apply
- Bottom Line
Reward Rate
- 3 Reward Points for every ₹100 retail spend (approximately 0.75% reward rate)
- 4 Reward Points for every ₹100 on groceries, supermarkets and dining (approximately 1% reward rate)
The rewards are modest, so this is not a standout card strictly for earning points.
Complimentary Lounge Access
- Domestic: 2 visits per quarter via the Mastercard lounge programme
- International: 2 visits per year via Priority Pass (no add-on Priority Pass cards)
These limits are reasonable for a semi-premium card, though additional international visits would have improved value.
Reward Point Redemptions
Redemption options have been a pain point for some cardholders. Yes Bank removed Amazon vouchers from the redemption catalogue a few months back, which disappointed many users and made them reassess using Yes Bank’s premium cards.
If you converted points to Amazon vouchers earlier, you were fortunate. Despite the removal, Yes Bank still offers a wide range of other redemption options, including vouchers for hotels, travel and retail brands, which keeps the card relevant for many holders.
Overall Features & Benefits
- Card Expert Rating: 3.5/5
- Reward Rate: Up to 1%
- Fuel Surcharge Waiver: Applicable on transactions between ₹400 – ₹5,000. Maximum waiver up to ₹250 per statement. Service tax on surcharge is not waived.
- Complimentary Airport Lounge Access: Domestic 2/quarter & International 2/year
- Special Offers: Periodic 2X/3X/5X point promos during festivals; 25% discount on BookMyShow (capped at ₹250 per month)
- Foreign Exchange Markup Fee: 2.5% + GST
How to Apply
Yes Bank often approves Card-on-Card applications with Lifetime Free options. You can apply for Yes Premia via an existing credit card through the bank’s upgrade or application process.
- Expected credit limit for Card-on-Card applications: around ₹3,00,000
Bottom Line
Yes Premia is a sensible upgrade if you currently hold a Yes Prosperity card and cannot access Yes First Preferred. Its rewards are comparable to cards such as HDFC Regalia First or the Amex Membership Rewards Credit Card, though not class-leading. The card’s design is attractive and may appeal to customers who value aesthetics as well as functionality.
It’s encouraging that Yes Bank continues to introduce new credit products, including higher-tier and corporate offerings. While some products need refinement, the bank’s initiative to expand its lineup is notable.
