Plaza Premium Lounge Delhi T1 Review: Airport Amenities & Tips

This was my second visit to the Plaza Premium Lounge at Delhi Airport Terminal 1, Domestic Departures. The lounge had been extremely crowded the previous time I visited, likely because it accepts a wide range of cards, so I wasn’t able to take photos then. I returned alone this time and was able to take pictures and note my experience.

Note: If you are looking for the Plaza Premium lounge at Delhi T3 Domestic, see my separate review for that location.

My Experience at Plaza Premium Lounge Delhi T1D:

At the reception I pulled out my Diners Black credit card hoping for a smooth VIP welcome, but the staff informed me they were having server issues with Diners cards that day and could not accept it. They said this was a rare occurrence and specific to that day. Fortunately I had several other cards, and gained entry by using my HDFC Platinum Mastercard debit card, which qualifies for lounge access via Mastercard benefits.

The lounge offers a wide spread of snacks and light buffet items. My personal favorite was Cornitos Nachos, which I grabbed from the selection on the snack table.

During my visit I noticed a gentleman who had used his Infinia credit card to enter. I attempted a brief conversation about the card; he mentioned he had held it for some time and treated it like any other everyday card. He seemed reserved and was with his family, so I kept the chat short and respectful—mentioning I might apply for that card in the future.

Facilities at Plaza Premium Lounge – Delhi Airport:

  • CardExpert Lounge Rating: 3.5/5
  • Wi‑Fi: Yes
  • Food: Yes. Buffet with a variety of snacks and light hot options.
  • Ambiance: Pleasant, but the lounge frequently gets crowded.
  • Recharge Stations: Yes
  • Complimentary Access on: Priority Pass, American Express, Diners Club, and select MasterCard programs.

Overall, Plaza Premium at Delhi T1 is a solid domestic lounge with a good food selection and comfortable seating. The main drawback is limited space: during my visit the lounge was roughly 90% full. On a previous visit I remember enjoying an extended meal and the dessert options, which were quite good.

Update Sep 2017: On later visits I noticed the service and food variety declined somewhat, and some card access options (such as Visa) were withdrawn. Other travelers have reported similar changes.
