I recently flew Jet Airways Business Class (Première) on the Chennai–Mumbai sector as part of my onward trip to Bangkok. If this is your first visit, you might want to read my earlier Jet Airways domestic business class experience from Mumbai to Coimbatore. This write-up is a concise add-on review focused on the MAA–BOM leg.

The trip included two flights:

- Mumbai (BOM) – Bangkok (BKK) (connecting international sector)
This review covers the domestic connecting flight on Jet Airways business class from Chennai to Mumbai. I booked both segments on a single PNR, using JPMiles on the Jet Airways website.
- Total Cost: 60,000 JPMiles + 5,000 INR (taxes)

- Aircraft: Boeing 737
- Route: MAA – BOM

- I Paid: 15,000 JPMiles + taxes (for this sector)
Ground Experience
1. Dedicated Check-in
Business class passengers have access to a dedicated check-in counter, which allowed me to skip long lines. Since this was a connecting itinerary, I received boarding passes for both flights at Chennai and my checked baggage was tagged through to the final destination. On arrival in Mumbai I needed to use the international transfer route and clear immigration.

2. Security Fast Track
Chennai Airport does not have a separate fast-track security lane, but on this visit there was a direct entry sign for crew and business class passengers that allowed bypassing the zig-zag queue. The screening itself is shared with other passengers, so this felt like a partial fast track. On this trip it saved about three minutes compared to the regular queue.
3. Lounge Access
I received a lounge pass along with my boarding pass, so I didn’t need to use a credit card to gain access. With roughly 30 minutes to spare, I visited the TFS Travel Club (New) lounge, which also offered a view of the boarding gate.

In Flight Experience
1. Seat

The domestic business class seats are comfortable and functional. There’s nothing extravagant, but they deliver what you expect for a short-haul premium cabin. During my flight, business class was about 60% full, which matches the typical demand on busy routes in and out of Mumbai and Delhi.
2. Welcome Drink
A welcome drink was offered after boarding. I would have liked options such as watermelon or coconut water, but the served drink tasted good.

3. Food
The non-vegetarian option on this sector was an omelette with mushroom. As I’m not a mushroom fan, it wasn’t my ideal choice, but the omelette tasted good despite appearing slightly under-browned. Overall the meal quality was acceptable for a domestic business class service.

Bottomline
Even with the airline facing challenges, Jet Airways remains a strong option for travelers who value airmiles and consistent domestic business-class service. From my recent flights, the domestic experience is solid: you get the service promised without lavish extras.
- Cardpext rating: 4/5
Improvements could include a dedicated fast track lane at Chennai Airport and a more premium-looking boarding pass from the airline. Overall, Jet Airways delivers a reliable domestic business-class product.
