Earned ₹18,000 Using SBI Signature Credit Card: My Step-by-Step Guide

I’ve been using my SBI Signature Credit Card for a couple of months. One of its notable benefits is the ability to convert reward points into cashback—an uncommon feature among credit cards. The card effectively offers 1 reward point = Rs. 0.25 when converted to cashback if you meet the spend milestones. I covered the card’s features in more detail in the review linked above.

How I Earned Rs. 18,000 Cashback on the SBI Signature Card

On this card, reaching a cumulative spend of Rs. 5,00,000 triggers milestone rewards. Typically, you receive around 60,000 reward points from the regular earnings plus the milestone bonus. In my case, additional bonus points from international transactions increased my total to 72,966 points.

The conversion process is straightforward: you can request cashback conversion by calling SBI customer care. I asked to redeem 72,000 points as statement credit and received Rs. 18,000 credited to my card within 48 hours. That turnaround was impressive—significantly faster than the 10 working days HDFC typically takes for cashback processing on its MoneyBack card.

Notes on Milestone Rewards and Redemption

  • Milestone bonus reward points are typically credited to your account about 10–15 days after you reach the qualifying spend.
  • Cashback redemption is allowed in blocks of 2,000 reward points for statement credit.

Once you cross the Rs. 5,00,000 threshold, the card’s incremental perks stop, so there’s less reason to concentrate incremental spend on it beyond that point. Still, the SBI Signature card remains a favorite for me because of regular offers like BookMyShow discounts, which I use every month.

After a few months of use, I’ve found SBI’s customer service and support to be notably good—almost on par with premium providers. The customer care team was knowledgeable and efficient, which stands out compared with my experiences at some other banks.

  • Update: This card is no longer issued in its original form by SBI. It has been replaced by the SBI Card Elite. For details on the changes, see what changed.
