HDFC BANK, the country’s largest credit card issuer, has partnered with IndiGo, India’s biggest airline, to launch a co-branded Mastercard credit card. Given the scale and reach of both brands, this collaboration is significant for frequent flyers and regular consumers alike.
After the exit of Jet Airways, there has been a gap for attractive airline-linked credit cards that offer strong connectivity benefits. This new card aims to fill that space by providing direct value for IndiGo customers.
Branded as “Ka-ching,” the offering is available in two variants: a base version and a premium version. Rewards on IndiGo spends are competitive, going up to 5% on the premium variant. Details follow.

Base Variant – 6E Rewards
- Annual fee: Rs. 750 + GST (welcome benefit worth Rs. 1,500)
- Rewards on IndiGo spends: 2.5%
- Rewards on dining, grocery and entertainment: 2%
- Rewards on other retail spends: 1%
- 6E Prime add-on: priority check-in, choice of seat and a complimentary meal
Premium Variant – 6E Rewards XL
- Annual fee: Rs. 2,500 + GST (welcome benefit worth Rs. 3,000)
- Rewards on IndiGo spends: 5%
- Rewards on dining, grocery and entertainment: 3%
- Rewards on other retail spends: 2%
- 6E Prime add-on: priority check-in, choice of seat and a complimentary meal
The premium variant offers particularly strong value for frequent flyers, with up to 5% back on flight bookings and a solid flat rate on other spending categories.
How 6E Rewards Work
6E Rewards use a dynamic earn-and-burn structure. In most cases, rewards convert at a 1:1 rate and occasionally at a 1:2 rate, similar to how traditional airline miles can fluctuate in value. This gives the rewards a variable but often cash-like utility.
Functionally, 6E Rewards act as a hybrid: they behave like cashback while also operating as airline miles and a wallet balance. The rewards can be used for IndiGo bookings and will be accepted as a payment option on the airline’s platform for in-flight or onboard purchases.
The structure is somewhat complex and its full practical value will become clearer once usage patterns and redemption rules are observed over time.
How to Apply
Card issuance will start through phased invitations to manage demand. Initially, invitations will be extended to existing IndiGo customers, with broader rollout to follow. This staged approach helps avoid operational overload on launch.
A public launch could take a few months, though exact timing is not confirmed.
Bottom Line
IndiGo is a dominant choice for domestic travel in India thanks to its network and schedule reliability. The HDFC Bank–IndiGo co-branded card complements the airline’s value proposition by adding rewards and travel-centric benefits to customers who already choose IndiGo for its connectivity and fares.
For HDFC Bank, this card strengthens its co-branded portfolio and helps recapture transactional volume after the exit of other airline partners.
If you fly IndiGo frequently, the 6E Rewards XL premium card is likely the more valuable option given its higher return on flight spends. Existing HDFC cardholders can often obtain a co-branded card as a secondary card, but approval and a separate credit line depend on individual profiles and the bank’s underwriting.
