Track Your CIBIL Score Free with SBI Card: Quick Monitoring

SBICard credit score

SBICard, the country’s second-largest credit card issuer, now allows cardholders to view their credit score (CIBIL) online from their SBICard account.

This feature is currently in beta and, for now, only the score is available for free. If you want the full credit report, there’s a paid option. There are other ways to obtain a report without paying, which we’ll mention briefly below.

SBICard has not specified how frequently the score is updated, but it will likely refresh on a schedule similar to other providers—typically every one to four months.

Below is a quick view of my SBICard “Credit score” dashboard:

My score displayed on the SBICard dashboard is one point lower than what I see elsewhere—not a meaningful difference, but worth noting.

SBICard doesn’t explicitly label the number as a “CIBIL score,” yet the value being displayed corresponds to the CIBIL scoring model. In the future, SBICard might also show other credit bureau scores, which would be a useful addition.

Things to know

You may wonder how SBICard and other banks can access your CIBIL score. When banks report customer loan and credit information to CIBIL, CIBIL in turn provides scores and reports back to those banks. This exchange helps banks evaluate a customer’s current credit position while giving CIBIL access to more comprehensive data.

This process applies to various loan products, not just credit cards. I learned about this flow a couple of years ago when a friend was denied a credit limit increase by Amex and was told the decision was based on a CIBIL-related issue.

Final Thoughts

Today you can view your credit score through several channels: SBICard provides the CIBIL score, while other apps and banks surface scores from bureaus like Experian and CRIF. For example, CRED currently shows Experian and CRIF scores to its users.

Some banks already offer integrated score and report access: ICICI Bank provides both the CIBIL score and the full report to its wealth customers, and HDFC Bank also offers CIBIL score and report access through a dedicated dashboard link.

It’s encouraging to see SBICard adopt this capability—something many users have been asking for—and it’s likely other issuers will add similar features for their cardholders soon.

If you’re new to SBICard and considering a first card, the SBI SimplyClick card is a good option for online spending, offering strong rewards relative to a modest annual fee.
