Should you apply?
Avios points offer many practical redemption options. Personally, I use Avios for premium redemptions such as British Airways business class between Dublin and London, where lounge access and the overall experience are compelling. Smaller redemptions also exist: for example, short hops like Tallinn to Helsinki can be booked with Avios at reasonable rates.
Using Avios creatively can unlock value on partner carriers as well. I have redeemed Avios for Cathay Pacific business class to Hong Kong via Qatar’s redemption channels when that provided a better deal than booking directly with the carrier.
